Pet Sitters International (PSI) has selected its top-five finalists for the 2015 Pet Sitter of the Year™ Award. First awarded by PSI in 1995, the Pet Sitter of the Year designation is the industry’s highest honor and recognizes true excellence in the professional pet-sitting field.

PSI congratulates the following top-five finalists who will move forward to the next round of judging for the 2015 award:

  • Gerry Arner, Pet n’ Nanny, Wake Forest, N.C.
  • Carrie Feinberg, Safe Haven Advocate Pet Care and Photography, Elgin, Ill.
  • Devina Singh, Devina Pet Care, Montreal, Quebec, Canada
  • Gina Triay, Tall Tails, Slidell, La.
  • Derek Wolpert, Beach Buds Dog Walking, North Bellmore, N.Y.

More than 330 nominations were submitted for 2015 award, sponsored by Business Insurers of the Carolinas. Nominations for the award are received from professional pet-sitters’ clients, pet-care peers and pet professionals such as veterinarians.

Nominees are evaluated on stringent criteria including client recommendations, variety of pets cared for, variety of clients served and services offered, as well as the quantity and quality of nominations. PSI’s Pet Sitter of the Year serves as an example to the industry and pet-owning public and embodies the qualities of passion and professionalism.

“The glowing nominations received for this year’s award affirm the vital role pet sitters play in the lives of their pet-owning clients,” said Patti Moran, PSI president. “From providing quality, reliable pet care and exceeding customer-service expectations to serving as trusted pet-care advisors and impacting their local communities, these finalists are shining examples of the importance of professional pet sitters.”

The five finalists move on to the next phase of the judging process and the winner will be announced in March. Serving on this year’s judging panel are Dr. Marty Becker, “America’s Veterinarian;” David Pearsall, Vice President of Business Insurers of the Carolinas; and Michelle Miller, PSI’s 2014 Pet Sitter of the Year™.

The winner, along with the other four finalists, will also be recognized at PSI’s 2016 Pet Sitter World Educational Conference & Expo this September in San Diego, Calif.
